Event Description
A Convergence of the World's Top Physicists to Take on the Biggest Challenge in Science
Wednesday, August 17, 2022
9:00 a.m. – 5:15 p.m. (PT)
The Westin Bayshore Hotel, Vancouver
Our world would be unrecognizable without quantum mechanics and our universe would be inexplicable without Einsteinian relativity; but the two theories are incompatible. Vancouver's Quantum Gravity Society has been created to act as a catalyst and base for the world's top minds in Physics to unify these approaches to one Theory of Quantum Gravity. The removal of this theoretical bottleneck will change everything - from our daily lives to how technology could affect our global future.
Vancouver's Quantum Gravity Society has been created to enable the world's top minds in Physics to unify these approaches into one Theory of Quantum Gravity. The Society wants to make sure that this revolution happens here in Vancouver. The Quantum Gravity Society founding members are Frank Giustra, Paul Lee, Terry Hui, Moe Kermani, Markus Frind, Abhay Ashtekar, Sir Roger Penrose, Philip Stamp, Bill Unruh and Birgitta Whaley.
The public day will feature TED-style talks featuring a dream team of the world's preeminent physicists, including Nobel Prize winners: Jim Peebles, Sir Roger Penrose, and Kip Thorne, along with Baron Martin Rees, Markus Aspelmeyer, Viatcheslav Mukhanov, Paul Steinhardt.
