But Jock Finlayson, executive vice-president and chief policy officer at the Business Council of B.C., says his group is forecasting a GDP decline of 7.3 per cent in 2020 for B.C., “with some possibility of a bigger decline if the virus returns in the fall and/or if the global economic downturn persists through the end of 2020.”
“In my view, the Conference Board is vastly underestimating the extent and duration of the economic damage being done by the virus and the measures being taken to contain it,” Finlayson said.
