On November 1, 2016, the Business Council of British Columbia hosted the fourth annual BC Business Summit, BC 2035: A Vision for Economic Growth and Prosperity. The sold-out event convened leaders and decision makers from across the province and the country to examine the global trends impacting the provincial economy and inform a plan for long-term economic prosperity.

Delegates heard from Canada’s top economic experts and thought leaders on matters impacting the competitiveness of BC’s economy, including keynote addresses by Stephen S. Poloz, Governor of the Bank of Canada, the Honourable Kevin Lynch, Vice Chair of BMO Financial and Prof. Santa Ono, President of the University of British Columbia.

Panel discussions and a series of concise, content-rich 9-minute presentations touched on connectivity, branding and partnerships, urban clusters and policies to compete more efficiently, social and technological innovation adoption and embracing reconciliation.

The BC Business Summit 2016 was the final input opportunity informing our 50th anniversary initiative, BC 2035, and resultant recommendations to help realize the vision of a competitive, sustainable and prosperous British Columbia over the next twenty years.
