Vancouver Sun: B.C.'s slow, phased, economic restart plan welcomed by business

The B.C. government’s plan to restart the economy after a two-month clampdown in response to an unprecedented pandemic is sensible and reasonable, says one of B.C.’s top business groups.

However, the government must also cast its eye to what is needed in the longer term to position B.C. to compete in what is sure to be a much more competitive, dog-eat-dog global economy, Business Council of B.C. president Greg D’Avignon said Thursday, the day after the release of the restart plan.

D’Avignon noted that their analysis of previous pandemics, dating to the 1300s, indicates it can take up to three-to-five years for a full economic recovery.
