“We can and must start to move forward with caution,” to quote the discussion paper. “The immediate challenge is to get people back to work as quickly and safely as possible, starting with those who’ve been most hurt by the pandemic.”

Those being workers in the service industries, women, young adults, Indigenous people, new Canadians, and those at the low end of the income scale, according to the discussion paper.

More than 300,000 unemployed. The economy expected to shrink by seven per cent, maybe more. The B.C. Business Council saying this week that the province is “likely” to experience a net loss of 20,000 to 30,000 businesses with paid employees over the next 18 months.
