SUBMISSION: BCBC Comments on TransMountain Pipeline Project

Canada ranks 12th overall in the World Economic Forum’s 2018 Global Competitiveness Report. We rank 53rd and 39th on the “burden of government regulation” and “quality of land administration,” respectively. Our main trading partner, the United States, is ranked first overall. Continuing to squander our comparative advantage in energy through an inability to advance high-quality projects using high quality project assessment processes is a significant risk to the future well-being of Canadians — an unacceptable outcome. Completing the TransMountain project in a timely manner is critical. It will define whether Canada is open for business and large-scale industrial investment or not.
