Why Join BCBC

Areas Of Focus

The Business Council of B.C. advances public policy and economic analysis and recommendations in collaboration with senior leaders from our diverse membership spanning all aspects of the B.C. economy.

Our mission is to

  1. Inform the public policy and economic dialogue with data-driven analysis and advice, and thought leadership.

  2. Convene our members and leaders from government, Indigenous nations, academia and other community stakeholders to develop solutions.

  3. Advocate to bring these solutions into action and positively impact the province’s economic prosperity and the well-being of people who live here.

We focus on: The economy; environment, natural resources and regulations; government finances; Indigenous reconciliation; and people, skills and the workplace.

Value Of Membership

Benefits of membership in the Business Council include:

  1. Unparalleled early-stage dialogue and collaboration on public policy formation with provincial and federal decision-makers.

  2. Opportunities to participate in intimate Roundtables and Forums where senior leaders meet to discuss emerging and pressing issues and innovative ideas relating to the broader business landscape and economy.

  3. Access to the Council’s economic and policy analyses, research and opinion pieces, including regular economic forecasts and information on key global, national and local policy trends and economic issues.

How Members Can Engage

Members have the opportunity to engage in all facets of the Business Council’s policy work and advocacy by participating in our issues-based committees and advisory groups, which help inform the council’s work on key areas of interest. These working groups are made up of Council members, representing the majority of B.C.’s top employers. The input of members ensures that committees are focused on relevant business issues and are informed by on-the-ground experience and practical policy matters.

See our full list of committees here.

From in-camera member-only meetings to larger forums and conferences, the Business Council regularly hosts events where members gain insights from leading guest speakers, including senior elected and government officials, global CEOs, business leaders, and subject matter experts.

Members can stay informed on public policy and economic matters through the Council’s extensive publications, reports and commentary. Members also have the opportunity to contribute to our content by contributing their stories, co-authoring pieces, or contributing original content.  Our research and recommendations are an important source of information for governments and stakeholders.
