Submission to the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services Advice on the 2020 B.C. Budget

The Business Council of British Columbia is pleased to provide this submission to the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services, outlining our views and advice on the 2020 provincial budget due to be tabled next February. We note that the province is not yet even one-quarter of the way through the 2019-20 fiscal year, making it difficult to offer a full suite of up-to-date recommendations for the 2020 budget. The Business Council intends to provide additional pre-budget suggestions to the Minister of Finance in the fall, in order to provide timely advice informed by a robust set of actual financial results and external data that may have implications for short-term fiscal planning.
